frequently asked questions
How do I know if my MOT has expired?
You can check on the status of your vehicle online. Visit https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and enter your registration.
Or, give us a call, and we can check for you.
Can I be reminded when my MOT test is due?
We all have a lot going on in our lives, and it’s easy to forget to renew your MOT each year. Our free MOT reminder service will send you a text to let you know when your next MOT is due, and you can book your car with us via a link in the message.
What happens if my car fails its MOT test?
If your car fails, it doesn’t meet the legal requirements to be deemed safe on the road and must be repaired. As long as your current MOT certificate is still valid and no ‘dangerous’ problems are listed on the MOT report, you are fine to drive your car away following a failed test. However, please check with your insurance provider before doing so, as they may not cover you until your vehicle has been fixed and retested. If you take your car away following a failure, bear in mind that you will still need to get it fixed and retested before midnight on the MOT expiry date.
Following a failed MOT test, we will inform you of any repairs that need to be carried out and the cost. If you get the repairs done in 10 working days, you are eligible for a free re-test if we carry out the work or a re-test at half the MOT price if someone else does.
