frequently asked questions

What gets serviced on a hybrid/electric car?

The most important areas for us to check when it comes to hybrid and electric cars include the brakes, steering, tires, high-voltage electric cabling, lights, and levels. We always follow the manufacturer’s schedule and keep your car covered by its warranty.

How often should I get my hybrid/electric vehicle serviced?

This comes down to the make and model. It’s best to follow the recommended service schedule outlined by the vehicle’s manufacturer, which we can advise on. You can also find this information in your car’s manual.

Do hybrid/electric cars really need repairs?

Electric vehicles generally require less maintenance than conventional vehicles, but, as with anything, there are still parts that can go wrong. You should be especially wary of the brakes.

Electric cars use regenerative braking to help top up the battery, however hybrids and fully electric cars also have friction brakes as a kind of back-up system. Because of this, these back-up brakes tend not to be used very often, and so can quickly seize up and become ineffective.

It’s important to note that hybrid cars – although also slightly easier to maintain than other vehicles – still have an engine requiring oil changes and servicing.
