About Us:
We are a genuine, caring, supportive family business with a strong reputation in the local area and a unique independent garage business model. We are dedicated to offering our customers and their vehicles main dealer service and quality without the hefty price tag. We follow manufacturer-approved servicing, use good quality parts and believe in going the extra mile for our customers. Our mission statement is “To be the best independent garage in King’s Lynn and Hunstanton and the go-to alternative to the main dealer.” With 4.9 stars out of 5 on Google and over 600 reviews and an unmatched commitment to vehicle maintenance and customer care, we think we’re pretty close to achieving this. But we could be even closer with your help!

4. Quarterly treats (snack carts, fish and chips, pizza lunch…we know food is the way to our technician’s hearts!)
5. 24/7 free access to our Employee Assistance Programme for support, wellbeing and positive mental health
6. Work with 23 other really cool, fun, friendly people
7. Company shuts completely for Christmas to enjoy time with family and friends

9. Workshop discounts that extend to family
10. Continuous training and development
11. Flexible working available for the right candidate

PLUS: we actually help local people take care of their vehicles and often get to feel like heroes when we get it right (which we almost always do and it feels soooo good!). As they say, not all heroes wear capes.

The Nitty Gritty:
We are based in Hunstanton town centre and King’s Lynn on the Hardwick Industrial Estate. You will be working in our King’s Lynn workshop. It’s spacious and equipped with all the technology and tools you need to ace your job. Our working hours are 8.30am to 5pm – Monday to Friday.

(we also dish out generous Christmas bonuses too!)

**Is this the GREATEST Master Tech job in the world?!**
Probably…definitely in King’s Lynn 😛

And here’s why:
We’re a pretty unique independent because we sit in a league of our own. I know what you’re thinking, but hear us out…
We can’t possibly be the main dealer and, we don’t want to be. But we’re not your average independent garage either. We are a hybrid – an independent garage for people that want main dealer servicing, but don’t want to pay the extortionate prices.
We have an incredibly skilled technician at King’s Lynn who is managing the diagnostics across both of our garages. He is also our Company Manager and responsible for a lotttt of other things.
What we need is another top tech to help take on some of the fancy diagnostic work coming out of our ears (!) and support the team in the workshop to tackle the fun, big jobs.

The perfect candidate will tick these boxes:
– You’ll have an obsession with problem solving. You’ll love a challenge and the satisfaction of finding a fault
– You’ll have at least 10 years experience in a workshop
– You’ll be fully qualified and have excellent diagnostic skills
– You’ll have a genuine commitment to delivering first class customer service
– You’ll possess good communication skills with the ability to explain the technical stuff to colleagues and customers in a way that makes sense (remember, we don’t have your brain!)
– You’ll be passionate about perfection. Finding the fault first time, every time will be your motto.
– You’ll share our care for customers and unwavering devotion to being the best we can be.
– You’ll be reliable, hard-working and a team player. We get a buzz when we have to work together to get a tricky job done – it’s a bit of an Avenger’s vibe.
– You’ll have read this job description and thought “Wow, this sounds like the job for me!”

Tools you’ll be using:
– Thinktool Euro Max
– Autologic (as close to dealer level that you will get in the aftermarket!)
– VCDS
– Vacuum/pressure testers
– Smoke machines
– PicoScope

Your typical day will involve:
– fault-finding
– supporting less-experienced team members
– reporting to the Company Manager throughout the day
– taking direction from the Workshop Manager
– looking after your workspace and helping to keep the workshop tidy
– sharing your technical knowledge with the service team to aid with quoting
– following health and safety procedures
– and being a hero and wearing a metaphorical cape on occasion.

We work on all makes and models of vehicle and take on all sorts of jobs. Everyday is different so you’ll never be bored!

Sound like a bit of you?
Blow us away by sending us your CV and a cover letter telling us why you want to join the K Brown Auto Repairs family. Please make sure these are up-to-date so we can see how amazing you are. We love to see something different; a voice-note or a video telling us about yourself and why we should consider you would definitely make you stand out. We look forward to hearing from you 🙂

Staff Benefits

Hear From Our Team

I have been at K Brown for 3 months now as a Workshop Controller. My favourite part of the job is seeing the other side of the motor trade having spent 15 years in part supply. I enjoy the overall sense of inclusion here. Everybody is an integral and valued part of the team, which spreads through to the customers.

Richard

Workshop Controller

I have worked at K Brown for 6 years and I’m a Qualified Tech. My favourite part of my job is problem solving and working as part of a team. My most memorable moment is when another technician, Dave, fell over – if you know, you know! And, the track day we did during one summer bank holiday at Cadwell Park when everyone came, including the owners.

Mthobisi

QualifiedTechnician

I’ve worked for K Browns a little over 10 years now. I’m the Company Manager – I help and oversee managing and running of both workshops. My favourite part of the job is learning new skills and getting the opportunity to learn more every day. Also being able to extend my knowledge to the trainees and build a stronger team. My most memorable moment is our trip to London as a whole company; technicians, receptionists, managers and directors. Going through the crystal maze and racing at the F1 arcade. No stress and laughs all around.

David

Company Manager

Our Culture – How We Do Things

We work hard on our company culture, constantly looking for ways we can make work more enjoyable for our team and finding opportunities to make them feel valued. Here are some key things to know about the culture at K Brown Auto Repairs:

  • Not Just a Number – as a small business, we take the time to get to know each member of staff as an individual.
  • Quality Time – we organise multiple team-building opportunities, team day’s out and fun activities to foster good relationships.
  • Fully Supported – our directors are available all day, and our owners still help run the business each day. Someone senior is always around if you need a chat about anything, whether work=-related or personal. The office door is always open and the phones are always on.
  • Strong Company Values – our Company Values (as shown above) are reflected in everything we do.
  • We Really Care – it’s a cliche to call a business a family, but we really do feel it’s the case here. With two generations of our family in the business, we have a lot of experience. Many of our staff members have been here for over 10 years. We feel like one big, dysfunctional family!
  • Work/Life Balance is Important – we made the decision many years ago to stay closed all weekend. We wanted our team to be able to spend more time with their family and friends and achieve a good work/life balance. Life shouldn’t be all about work.
  • Training and Development – we want our staff to progress in their career with us so we offer training opportunities and support our staff to achieve their goals. In the past, our staff have benefitted from Electric and Hybrid Vehicle training, NVQ Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeships, MOT Tester training, Diagnostic training, Air-Conditioning Training, Management training and Business Finance training. These courses are funded and organised by us.
